Three events in one day - choose your involvement!

11:00 Self-guided tour of Aquarium of the Pacific

Arrive early in order to park and meet in front of the aquarium at 10:45 so we can all go in together. Park in the parking structure. The fee is $8.00 for the day with Aquarium validation. Free downloadable scavenger hunts: http://www.aquariumofpacific.org/EDUCATION/SCHOOLS/scavengers.html

Cost: $8 per person (Regular admission is $25-$35.) Free for students in Premium Journey Program and for children ages 2 and under

3:00 Celebration at the Ocean

Celebrate the completion of our first component this year! There will be a craft, some games, and cupcakes! Students may bring work they'd like to show off. Meet at the picnic benches near the public restrooms outside the aquarium.

Cost: $5 for each participating student, free for Premium Journey Program students

Overnight Experience at Aquarium of the Pacific

All aboard and anchors away! Join us for a journey on the open ocean. Investigate the fascinating marine food web of our local waters and explore the unbelievable animal adaptations. Learn how marine life thrives and adjusts to changes in habitat and discover the diversity in marine life through observation and hands on learning. This overnight program includes hands-on activities, a craft, pizza dinner, snack, cereal breakfast, and an overnight T-shirt.

Check-in is at 5:00 p.m. and the overnight ends at 7:00 a.m. the next morning. More information below.

  • Schedule:

  • Arrive by 5:00 p.m. Meet the aquarium staff at the member’s entrance in the front of the building.

  • After stowing the overnight gear, we have until 5:45 pm to visit the gift store, Pacific Collections, and the Lorikeet Forest (pending seasonal early closures). This will be the only block of time to visit these locations during the overnight.

  • Meet at 5:45 at Blue Cavern at the end of the Great Hall for the evening Program, including dinner and educational programming.

  • 10:00-10:30 Lights Out

  • 6:00 Rise and Shine

  • 6:30 Breakfast

  • 7:00 Program ends

  • Once the overnight gear is stowed we will not see it again until bedtime, so please keep out items you might need, such as a jacket, water bottle, and money for the gift store.

  • What to Bring

  • something comfortable to sleep in. A T-shirt, pair of sweats and sweatshirt will work just fine. Warm clothes are encouraged!

  • We will be sleeping on a floor in the Northern, Southern California, or Tropical gallery. Please remember to bring what you plan to sleep on and sleep with for the night. A warm sleeping bag and/or blankets, and pillow will be needed. You may bring a therma-rest, egg foam mattress, or small inflatable mattress for your comfort. Please bring only what you can carry safely without assistance.

  • Your toothbrush and any other essentials to prepare for bed and to help you get ready in the morning. Sorry, no showers are available.

  • Drinks are only served at dinner and breakfast. It is a good idea to bring a reusable water bottle, to refill during the night.

  • ​What Not to Bring

  • Please do not bring food or beverages (except water), into the Aquarium unless specific arrangements have been made with the coordinator.

  • Flashlights are not needed at night and may disturb the animals, so please leave them at home.

  • Electronics: You are welcome to bring cellphones/iPads/E-readers but these must be turned off during lights out so as not to disturb the animals.

  • Parking: The City’s parking structure across from the Aquarium is open on the evenings for the overnight adventures. The cost is $8.00 for overnight guests. Tickets must be validated at the Aquarium of the Pacific. Education staff will assist in the validation process the following morning of your program before you leave. Validation is good for 24 hours only. Any lost tickets will pay the regular daily maximum rate of $24.00 per day.

  • Safety Information:

  • The Aquarium’s security staff are first aid/CPR certified.

  • The Aquarium of the Pacific has 24-hour security to assist in emergency situations. If someone from home needs to reach you during your stay at the Aquarium, security staff can be contacted at (562) 951-1733.

  • For the safety of our animals and guests, you must remain with the group, led by an Aquarium staff member, at all times.

  • ​Meals:

  • We will have pizza and salad for dinner, a healthy evening snack, and a fruit and cereal breakfast in the morning.

  • Let us know If you have a specific dietary requirement (i.e. vegetarian, gluten free, lactose).

Directions to the aquarium:

Take the S 710 Fwy. Follow signs for the Aquarium and downtown Long Beach. The 710 becomes Shoreline Drive. Turn right on Aquarium Way.
