Fireworks

Read through the fireworks and choose about five that you think might interest your child. Allow him or her to select 1-3 of them.

Make a travel folder as if you were going to Mount Olympus to see the gods. What would your plans consist of? Which gods would you plan to visit? What other sights would you take in while you're in Greece?
While in the underworld, Odysseus visited the blind prophet Tiresias. A blind prophet is an oxymoron. Tiresias couldn't see like you and I do, but he could see things that you and I can't see. Make up more stories about Tiresias.

Make a clay model of a Greek god.
What familiar things today are named after the Greek gods? How many constellations, foods, plants, space ships, etc. can you find?
Ambrosia may have been a drink. What do you think the drink could have been like? Make up an ambrosia drink. Experiment with various ingredients. Once you've created your favorite ambrosia drink, write down the recipe to share with others.
Make up a poem about a Greek god.
Create a genealogy chart of the Greek gods.
Read books about the Greek gods.
Do a research project on one of the gods.
Make a brochure about your favorite Greek god.
Make a stretch book about the twelve Olympians. Include pictures and descriptions.
Make a diorama of Mount Olympus.
Read a book about ratios.
Create a monument for a Greek God.
Perform an experiment with casting lots ratios. Put five identical items in a bag, one with a mark on it. The chance of getting the marked item is one in five. How many times can you actually pull out one of the five and you get the one with the mark? Do this one hundred times, keeping track of the number of times you get the mark. In theory, you should get the mark twenty times. How many times do you actually get it? Why would it be different from one hundred?
