Tabletop gaming has experienced a surge in growth and has become a popular hobby. Games are designed to be fun, to be challenging, and to provide social interaction. Students learn such concepts as critical thinking, strategy, statistics, chance, cooperation, competition (friendly, of course), deductive reasoning, detecting patterns, following rules, and learning from experience -- all while having fun.
