Celebration Education is a small part-time school that is just finishing up its first year here in Yucaipa. It has been a great year, including exciting learning activities every week, two special interest classes, several visits by Leonardo da Vinci, and fourteen field trips.

Celebration Education's slogan is "Educating Children Using the Best Tools - Their Own Brains!" This is because Celebration utilizes the latest educational methods based on brain research as to how children learn best. The answer is through non-threatening, real-life experiences, time to explore, lots of choices, and fun! The outcome is not standardized children, but unique children that are recognized for their individual geniuses.

As a part-time school, Celebration mostly attracts families who homeschool.

Celebration Education was founded by Heather Martinson, who has homeschooled her own children for over fifteen years and currently serves on the Board of Directors for California Homeschool Network.

At present, Celebration Education meets at Yucaipa's community center, but has plans to one day have a Facility of its own. This facility will be different from most schools in that it will be a smaller, beautiful building in a natural setting.

This past year was geared to mostly grade-schoolers, but this fall, Celebration Education will also offer a teen program. For the teens, Celebration will use Positive Peer Groups, which is a powerful program to help teens plan and implement their individual education and career goals.

The grade school theme for 2007-2008 will be an adaptation of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. It promises to be another action-packed year!

Anyone who is interested in learning more about this exciting brain-compatible method and the Celebration Education School is welcome to attend any of the four informative parent meetings during the summer. They will be June26 and July 24th at 10 am and 7 pm each day at Citibank's community room at 34580 Yucaipa Blvd.
